Grants & Awards
OICA Grants Program
Financial assistance is given to UP Diliman units and organizations for projects and programs relating to the broad field of culture and arts. These include but are not limited to cultural and artistic productions, exhibitions, educational workshops, and other artist support programs. Grants take the form of partial subsidy and shall not exceed the total project cost.
UP Diliman Honorific Award for Student Performing Arts Group (UPD HASPAG)
This is an incentive program where qualified UP Diliman student performing groups are appointed as Official Performing Groups of UP Diliman for a period of three years. During this period, the groups will receive an annual monetary grant in the amount of P250,000, to be used for their special projects and productions.
UP Diliman Performing Arts Scholarship Program (UPD PASP)
This is a scholarship in the form of tuition waiver or stipend (for those covered by the free tuition policy) awarded to deserving student-performers who are members of an Official Student Performing Arts Group of UP Diliman. It is also an honorific award with the title UPD Performing Arts Scholar.
UP Diliman Visual Arts and Cultural Studies Scholarship Program (UPD VACSSP)
This is a scholarship in the form of a tuition waiver (and other fees) or a stipend awarded by the UPD Chancellor through OICA to deserving UPD undergraduate students in the visual arts and in programs related to arts and cultural criticism. It is renewable every academic year.
UP Diliman Creative/Critical Thesis Grant in the Arts, Culture, and the Humanities Program (UPD CCTGACH)
This award/grant is a competitive thesis grant for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students of UP Diliman envisioned to defray some expenses of the student in conducting research or producing creative work.
OICA Program Logos
The UPD-OICA Program logos were envisioned to be flowers that grow from the “tree of life” that the office’s logo resembles. Inspired by how flowers play a key role in ensuring the persistence and development of plant life through time, the logos act as metaphors to how the programs they represent aspire to nurture and support the artist-scholars of UP Diliman.

The UPD-OICA Grants logo takes off from the likeness of the petals of santan (Ixora coccinea). With the petals arranged in the form of a parol or lantern, the logo was made to tread multiple meanings: warmth, illumination, guide, and gift. It is adorned with a yellow stroke, a stylized lowercase letter ‘g’, which acts as the stem of the flower. |

Featuring a lotus flower (Nelumbo nucifera), the logo of the UPD HASPAG and UPD PASP programs represents creativity, because of the flower’s associations with enlightened beauty, rebirth, and transformation. The growth of the scholars and the enhancement of their skills are hinted at by the varying hues of the flower. |

Formed with the trumpet-like shape of a yellow bell (Allamanda cathartica) or kampanilya, the UPD-VACSSP logo alludes to how art acts as an instrument to resound or echo advocacies and to amplify voices that speak about issues in society. The breadth of skill in commanding visual form is hinted by the use of the primary colors red, yellow, and blue, which, if mixed together, can produce any color in the spectrum. |

The general shape of the UPD CCTGACH logo was derived from the gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) or tropical hibiscus, with its petals spread out to resemble the pages of an open book. Punctuated with a red plume and a human figure, the logo was made to symbolize research as an endeavor in the fields of arts, culture, and the humanities. |
