Nakikiisa ang UP Diliman OICA sa komemorasyon ng ika-50 taon nang i-deklara ng diktador na si Ferdinand Marcos Sr. ang Proclamation No. 1081, na naglagay sa Pilipinas sa ilalim ng batas militar o Martial Law. Isa ito sa pinakamadilim na yugto ng ating kasaysayan kung saan talamak ang pang-aabuso ng estado sa karapatang pantao at likas na yaman ng sambayanang Pilipino.
NEVER FORGET.
Saksi rin ang panahong ito sa katiwalian at pananamantala ng rehimeng Marcos sa kaban ng bayan. Dalawang taon pa man bago ang deklarasyon ng Batas Militar, nagbukas ng Swiss bank account ang mag-asawang Marcos gamit ang mga alyas na William Saunders at Jane Ryan. Gumawa sila ng apat na bank account noong Marso 20-21, 1968, na may kabuuang deposito na USD 950,000. Hindi maipaliwanag kung saan nagmula ang yaman nilang ito, kaya ito ay binansagang “ill-gotten wealth.” Malayo ito sa idineklarang SALN (Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth) ni Marcos Sr. noong Disyembre 31, 1966 na umaabot lamang sa PHP 120,000 o USD 30,000.
Ang pinagsama at “lawful salaries”ng mag-asawang Marcos mula 1966 hanggang 1968 ay PHP 2,319,583.33 (USD 304,372.43) lamang. Lahat ng ito ay nakapaloob sa desisyon ng Korte Suprema sa G.R. No. 152154, noong Hulyo 15, 2003.
Ang pabagu-bagong impormasyon at kahina-hinalang paglalahad ng estadistika ay gawain ng isang pinunong maaaring may mababang pag-unawa sa kaniyang pinansiya, o isang manloloko’t walang-pakundangan.
Sa paggunita ng ika-50 anibersaryo ng Martial Law, tulungan natin ang lahat ng mamamayang Pilipino na mabigyang-linaw ang hatol ng napakaraming dokumentong legal na ipinataw sa mga Marcos. Matagal nang may hatol ang katarungan. Tayo na lang ang hinihintay na umunawa.
Mailap pa rin ang hustisya sa nakararami.
Kaya tayo ay magmulat, maglingkod, at panatilihin nating abot-kamay ang katotohanan at hustisya para sa lahat.
