Last October 2015, representatives from Xiemen University and the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines joined notable UP officials to officially inaugurate the Confucius Institute at UP Diliman (CI-UPD).
Held at the University Theater Lobby, the ceremony unveiled the official marker of CI-UPD, signaling the commencement of a new and strengthened cooperation between China and the Philippines, particularly in the areas of language, art, literature, film, culture, the natural and social sciences and engineering, medicine, agriculture and aquaculture.
