For the first time in history, the University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD) held the first ever virtual General Commencement Exercises due to the ongoing pandemic crisis. The university recognized 28 summa cum laude graduates.
Hosted by the Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts, the second installment of the UP Diliman Kanlungan Talk Series examined the situation of theater artists and students in the Philippines.

Pag-iilaw is a traditional lighting ceremony in which UP Diliman officially welcomes the Christmas Season. Unlike the previous ceremonies, Pag-iilaw 2019 was held at UP Diliman Carillon Plaza.
“Paglulunsad at Pasasalamat: The CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art, 2nd Edition” is in conjunction with the conference, Rhetoric of Creative Partnership: Conversation on Cross-cultural Artistic Exchanges spearheaded by the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation Manila, UP Diliman Office of the Chancellor, UP Diliman Information Office, Asian Center, and UP System Office of International Linkages.
“Tahanan” was the theme of the 108th UP Diliman Commencement Exercises. Calling on the university to serve as home and refuge for the students, the ceremony welcomed 5,000 graduates and recognized 54 summa cum laude in the bunch.

Attendees from many walks of life flocked to the University of the Philippines Oblation Plaza and Academic Oval last December 14, 2018 to participate in and watch the annual UPD Lantern Parade.
