UP Diliman celebrated the year-end season with colorful lanterns at the annual Lantern Parade. This year’s theme “UP Diliman, Paaralan, Palaruan” was inspired by Homo Ludens: A Study of the Play Element in Culture, a 1938 book by Dutch historian and philosopher Johan Huizinga, who used the term homo ludens to describe the nature of man and society to create “play,” which in turn forms their culture.
Fifty-six groups participated that year, comprising degree-granting units, administration and support offices, student and religious organizations, and the workers’ union.
