Launch of “Pasyal: UP Diliman Art Trail” and “UP Diliman Art Inventory Project”

When

October 24, 2017

The simultaneous launch of the “Pasyal: UP Diliman Art Trail” monograph and the “UP Diliman Art Inventory Project” was held last 24 October 2017 at the UP Theater Lobby.

Pasyal: UP Diliman Art Trail is a revised monograph on public art and cultural landmarks inside the Diliman campus. It was revised and redesigned for a wider readership i.e. descriptions written in a more accessible language and the map re-visualized to better support foot and vehicular traffic.

The UP Diliman Art Inventory project embarks on cataloging art collections of the university. It is envisioned to achieve the following goals: to expand the inventory’s content bank; have enough funding to support a sustainable museum education program; to sustain conservation efforts aimed at the upkeep of the collections; and ultimately provide public access to the university art heritage.

Copies of the “Pasyal: UP Diliman Art Trail” monograph were presented to Executive Vice President Teodoro J. Herbosa on behalf of the Office of the President of the UP System and Chancellor Michael Lim Tan by then UP Diliman OICA Officer-in-Charge Dr. Sir Anril P. Tiatco. Joining him were “Pasyal: UP Diliman Art Trail” project head Prof. Tessa Maria T. Guazon, and co-creators Prof. Manuel Kristoffer C. Giron, and Ms. Louise Anne M. Salas.

An introduction of the UP Diliman Art Inventory Project was presented by its overall project leader, Dr. Cecilia dela Paz.

A documentary titled, “Abueva: Philippine National Artist for Sculpture” written and directed by Katrina Ventura, was also viewed during the event.

The Guitar Guild performed the Philippine Medley No. 2 by Alfredo Buenaventura, while Aaron Vocalan, Guitar Guild president provided the solo numbers El Choclo by Roland Dyens and Canarios by Gaspar Sanz, during the intermission.
